Customer Story: Florida Agency for Health Care Administration
Florida AHCA is responsible for the administration of Florida’s estimated $25.2 billion Medicaid program, licensure and regulation of Florida’s 48,500 health facilities and for providing information to Floridians about the quality of care they receive via the Florida Center for Health Information and Policy Analysis.
AHCA had a number of diverse websites each developed to provide a slice of statewide health care data to the public, but each had their own data source and they had no consistent look or accessibility to the public. The data sources were updated at differing intervals and, updates often required changes to the website to accommodate them.
Cloud Navigator merged all of the diverse website projects into a single ASP.NET website FloridaHealthFinder.gov and created consistent navigation and look and feel for the whole. Diverse data sources were merged into a single SQL database. The website and its data are hosted in the Microsoft Azure cloud for access to the citizens of Florida. Data updates were streamlined and processes made consistent.
AHCA wished to continue to host one particular data source which is updated nightly, so Cloud Navigator created a web service API to allow the data to be readily accessed not only by FloridaHealthFinder, but also by mobile facility locator applications available on Apple and Android devices.
